Poker Bonus Codes

Poker Bonuses and Codes

Almost all poker sites use poker bonuses and codes to entice potential customers to join their poker sites.  Poker bonuses and codes could range anywhere from a 5% reload bonus to first time deposit bonuses that match your deposit.

Poker Bonuses and codes are used by poker sites because most sites feel that when a player recieves a bonus, they will almost always retain their bonus through rake back through a short amount of time.  This also allows the site to potentially garner the customers interest enough that they will permanently retain a player for a lifetime, which will in the long term earn that site money.

It’s best for poker players to move from site to site to retain as many bonuses as they can, rather than to remain using a single site.

An example of a poker bonus would be sportsinteraction.com poker bonus.  They offered a promotion that would give the customer up to $300 on a reload bonus of 50%.  This means that the customer can earn up to $300 extra on a deposit of $600.  Now various poker sites won’t just deposit the extra money into your account right away, you must earn it through Frequent player points (FPP).

FPP’s are used by many sites to release your bonus funds.  Many sites will release your bonus funds in increments of 5, 10, or 20 dollars.  Different sites have different methods of giving out FPP’s.  For example, sports interaction dishes out 1 FPP per 14 cents deposited into a tournament fee, or 1 FPP for every 6 cents in the pot of a ring game.  The site then releases your bonus in $5 increments for every 83.33 FPP points that you earn. This payout system is similar to other sites like Full Tilt and their Fullt Tilt poker bonus program

Lastly, these bonuses won’t last forever as you’d usually get anywhere from 3 months to 1 year to earn all of your bonus before it runs out.

Women in Poker Sponsorship Deal

September 13, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Poker Bonus

When we consider open sporting events, generally women make up a small proportion of the players. This fact is pretty obvious when we look at online poker sponsorships as well. To demonstrate, if you take a look at the team of Poker Pros at Full Tilt, you find only one woman while the rest of the thirteen members are all men. It is a similar situation with most other online sites that offer sponsorship deals to poker players.

However, there are a few top woman poker players who have entered into poker sponsorship deals with some of the best online poker rooms although the overall percentage is not very impressive. There are undoubtedly many more male players than female ones representing websites as “team pros”. That is not to say that women are not accomplished poker players. In fact, there are some very talented women players who have great abilities at the table and also sport an impressive tournament record. Take for instance, Kathy Liebert. She is the top-ranked female poker player in terms of lifetime tournament earnings. Yet, she has no sponsorship deal with any of the online poker websites.

Why this is so, one might ask. In the world of poker, there is no discrimination as to the age, gender or physical abilities so long as the individual can afford to pay for a seat at the table. But, the criteria used by online poker rooms to pick their sponsored players are somewhat ambiguous, although majority of them prefer to choose players who satisfy a particular image that the website wants to project.  And when we talk about image, it has a completely different significance where female players are concerned, as compared to the males due to the cultural prejudices prevalent in our society.

The criteria for selecting players for sponsorship are not only confined to achievements at the tables; neither are they dependent on the player’s effort to network and promote them. Numerous female poker players make the effort market themselves in the hope of getting noticed. Whether they reach the final table or bust in the very first round does not really matter. But, they have presented themselves to the media and television cameras by dressing up to get noticed. Indeed, they may not have the capability that merits a sponsorship, but they do have an image that the media loves, which translates into media attention and an advertisement opportunity for online poker sites when the poker player plays live poker tournament events.  Thus, landing a sponsorship deal has everything to do with image and when it comes down to women, even more so.

It is quite obvious that accomplished female poker players who do not go out of their way to promote themselves rarely receive due credit for their achievements. Kathy Liebert herself acknowledges that she does not care about fashion; neither does she go around trying to impress people – probably the reason why she is without a sponsorship despite her achievements.   Sadly, this trend continues with no efforts being made to change it for the better. There are no protests on behalf of women poker players who are being denied sponsorships since it isn’t considered an important issue.

Reload Bonuses: The Secret to Higher Rakeback
I know a lot of players that, for whatever reason, basically ignore reload bonuses. They think it’s a hassle to redeposit, or to move funds around, or they just don’t see much value in having to clear a $100 or so bonus.

The funny thing is, if you posed the deal to them another way – a higher rakeback rate – they’d probably be all over it. That’s exactly what reload bonuses are at most rooms – a temporary boost to your rakeback rate that you ignore at your own peril.

To show you just how much of a boost reloads can provide, let’s take a typical example. Note that the codes and percentages I mention in this example probably won’t be active by the time you read this article – reload bonuses tend to come and go pretty quickly. The specific bonus isn’t the point anyhow – the point is more to show how a reload bonus can effectively act as free poker money, padding your bankroll with no extra effort on your part save making a deposit.

Ok, so let’s get to the example. Carbon Poker frequently offers reload bonuses; a recent one (SHAN75) offered a 75% bonus up to $750. Let’s say you deposit the maximum and get a $750 bonus. Most Carbon bonuses release at the rate of $1 for every 75 VIP points you earn. What’s that worth to you?

At Carbon you earn 10 VIP points for every $1 you pay in rake. So, you’re getting $1 back every time you pay $7.50 in rake. That translates to 13% rakeback. Not bad, right?

This is a calculation you should be doing whenever you see a reload bonus. You only need to know a few key facts, namely:

– What’s the total amount of the bonus I can earn?
– What rate does the bonus clear at?
– How much rake do I need to pay to clear the bonus?

Once you figure out the above, determining what the bonus is worth to you in terms of rakeback is pretty simple – just take the total amount of the bonus and divide it by the amount of rake you need to pay to clear the bonus.

Ok, so reload bonuses obviously offer great value – what’s the downside? Well, the first is obvious – it’s not a no deposit poker bankroll, so you need to have cash available to deposit to take advantage of the offer. The second is a bit less obvious. It depends on the room and their policy regarding bonuses and deductions from rakeback. Some rooms will deduct the cost of any promotions you earn or cash in from your total rake, which has the impact of lowering your rakeback.

Make no mistake: you always make more money by combining rakeback and bonuses than by getting either alone. However, depending on the room, the overall value might not be quite as high as you’d think due to deductions. Ask your rakeback or bonus provider for the terms of any room you’re interested in so you can make an informed decision.

If a room sent you an email and offered you a reduced rake rate, would you take it? That’s essentially what a reload bonus is, so give that next email you get from a poker room a closer look before deciding that you’re too busy to grab some free poker cash.

Online pokies versus land based pokie games.

July 13, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

There are a few major differences in terms of online and land based pokie games. The obvious one is their location and accessibility. Online pokie games have become more accessible in recent times with the development of mobile phone games, anyone can actually play pokie games from anywhere they can get cell reception now. There land based counterparts are still however confined to their licensed premises like pubs, clubs and casinos.
The biggest difference in my opinion however is the pokies win sizes. Online pokie games have wins that are far bigger than anything even the biggest pokie game suppliers could offer. Many progressive jackpots online exceed $50,000 whereas most local pokie game providers offer jackpots that are around $1,000. The difference in payouts doesn’t end there; each pokie game is preset to a certain payout percentage. Land based pokie games have large overhead and maintenance costs so they can only offer payouts in the regions of 50% – 60%, there are a few land based games which offer payouts up to 70% but these are rare.
Online pokie games cost much less to run and maintain this makes the payout percentages an area of competition between the online providers. This competition has seen the majority of online pokie games have their payout percentages pushed out to over 90% and in many cases reach as high as 97%.
Pokies win on a preset percentage amount meaning they payout a certain amount of whatever money they receive. If the machine has a payout percentage of 95% then 95% of any money put into the game will be paid out in pokie game wins. Of course there are many more reasons online pokies provide a better platform for pokie players. Things like pokie game bonuses and free play options.
